Goldeneye is a small and very stylish villa resort hidden away in leisurely, lawned and forested grounds in Oracabessa to east of Ocho Rios on the north coast of Jamaica. The centrepiece is Ian Fleming’s old house, which has three bedrooms and a living room, a games/screening room, a small private beach and a private pool. Built in the Fifties it has been modernised with an Oriental touch, including bamboo furniture and mats and carvings (though you can still see the desk at which Fleming wrote many of the James Bond novels). Besides Ian Fleming’s villa there are three villas with a varied number of bedrooms, built in earthy tropical style. There is also a cliffside dining room and bar with access to the sea and Low Cay beach next door. As an Island Outpost, Goldeneye is stylish and hip, and has a delightful, tranquil air. It sees many stars - musicians, models and film moguls – witnessed by the trees they have planted in the gardens.

Everyone raves about the food at GoldenEye. What makes it so good?
It’s simple. It’s home-cooked. It’s local. It’s fresh. Traditional Jamaican cuisine, like we serve at GoldenEye, is a fusion of cultures and infuences. (Nowhere is the country’s motto "Out of many, one people" more apt than when discussing Jamaican cuisine! )


Every day, dishes on our menu are cooked with fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables organically grown at Pantrepant, our farm in the Trelawny Parish mountains. We buy fresh fish and lobster daily from local fshermen. Janga, freshwater crayfish, are caught in nearby rivers. Jamaica’s herbs and spices—including the fiery Scotch bonnet pepper, pimento, nutmeg, ginger, tamarind and sweet coconut—are world famous. Tropical fruit, such as ackee, breadfruit, june plum and soursop, are not only unique to the area, they’re also unforgettably luscious!

What about bar service? Where is the bar, and do you serve any special drinks I should know about?
You can’t miss the Eden Bar, because the sounds of laughter, chit-chat and deep dub reverb echoe in the warm air, making it one of the happiest, most-happening spots at GoldenEye.

Chances are, half the crowd will be holding the crushed ice, lime and rum cocktail called the GoldenEye (the same drink you were gratefully served upon your arrival). And the rum? Blackwell’s Well Black. Now, how many hotels serve a rum “homemade” on property—by the proprietor?


What’s the story behind Blackwell’s Well Black Fine Jamaican Rum?
Since the 17th century, Island Outpost founder Chris Blackwell’s family have called Jamaica home. In 1916, they went into the rum trade. Today, after tinkering around with some old family recipes, Blackwell has created a new rum inspired by the old-style, richly favored recipe that made Jamaican rum world-famous.

Blackwell’s Fine Rum is still only available in Jamaica. That it was made at GoldenEye makes drinking it right here, on this very spot, that much more tasty.

Activities

Where can I swim at GoldenEye?
Although there are many secret coves three main swimming beaches:


1. Low Cay Beach. It’s 500 smooth, sandy feet of beach shaped like a French croissant.


2. The Lagoon. Created back in the days when Oracabessa was a banana port, the Lagoon is one of the natural wonders that make GoldenEye unique. No matter how rough the sea, the Lagoon is almost always peaceful, placid and a wonderful “pool” in which to swim. Day or night.


3. Eden Beach. For just one day, in 1956, the British government was headquartered at GoldenEye. This was because then Prime Minister Sir Anthony Eden was vacationing here when the Suez crisis erupted.

Trained lifeguards, they will arrange for everything from beach towels and snorkeling equipment to kayaks, glass- bottom boat rides and Jet Skis.

What are some of the things to do while staying at GoldenEye?

Check-in is at 3 p.m. Checkout is at noon.
We do everything possible to accommodate early arrivals and late departures.

How do I get from the airport to GoldenEye?
Two options: You can drive; it takes about an hour and 45 minutes to get from Sangster Airport in Montego Bay to GoldenEye. Driving in Jamaica is on the left-hand side of the road; steering wheels are on the right. This might be why most guests ask that we arrange for a driver to take them to the airport and back.

The second choice is to fly into Ian Fleming International Airport, it is a quick zip from there to GoldenEye. Private planes can easily land on the newly extended runway. It is a short flight on one of the commuter planes that frequently fly between Ian Fleming International and Montego Bay. We are happy to arrange flights for you.
