The shows of Las
Vegas are the way many visitors fill their nights. The lineup is
extensive and ever-changing, so get your hands on an up-to-date schedule
and make your plans as early as possible. Some of the long-running
favorites: O (water-themed circus show by the famed Cirque de Soleil at
Bellagio); Mystere (another Cirque de Soleil production, this one at
TI-Treasure Island); A New Day starring Celine Dion; the sexy,
traditional showgirl revues such as Jubilee (at Bally's), La Femme (at
the MGM Grand) and Folies Bergere (at the Tropicana); and Blue Man Group
(music, lights and splashing paint at Luxor).
Nightlife hardly ends with the big shows, however. Perhaps seeking to
match the move toward high-end dining, Vegas has recently seen the
addition of some high-end drinking establishments. Both Shadow at
Caesars Palace and Tabu at MGM Grand have some entertainment activities
(provocative dancers at Shadow; state-of-the-art lighting effects and
DJs at Tabu), but the emphasis is less on a formal show or frantic
dancing, more on relaxing with high-quality drinks. For those who do
want to dance, there's no lack of options. Some popular spots are found
in the big hotel/casinos; others are off on their own.
